GREAT TURNOUT
FOR OPERATION RICEBOWL EVENT!
Thanks to all who came out and experienced a hunger banquet, great
speaker, and awesome activities! It
truly was an amazing, eye-opening night and we are thankful to so many who helped
make it happen: to JoAnn Truzscinski for
preparing the meal, the parish staff for assisting in many areas, to Joe Weber
for speaking to us about his African experience, to Betty Voisard for helping
in many ways, to all who stayed to help clean up, to the teachers that made
calls to their students and encouraged them to be there and to all who came out
and supported the night by attending!!!
It was a great event and we look forward to next year!! Thanks everyone!!!
SPAGHETTI
DINNER A ROUSING SUCCESS!!! The
first fund-raiser held to benefit the students attending our Young Neighbors In Action mission trip this summer was a wonderful
success! Over $1600 was raised and puts
us well on our way in reaching our goal of $10,000 to raise!!! Special thanks go out to the coordinators of
the event, Bud and Kim O’Brien along with Mary Cubich who planned, delegated,
and executed a very organized, flowing, successful event!! Way to go!
Thanks also go out to our outstanding 21 students who came and worked
hard throughout the day and evening to ensure a successful dinner…and they did
it all without complaining and had smiles on their faces!!! Thanks, too, to all
of the parents who helped out in any way…there were so many who pitched in and
we couldn’t have done it without all of you!!!
Lastly, but also, most importantly, THANKS TO ALL WHO BOUGHT TICKETS AND
ATTENDED THE EVENT!!! This parish truly
does support its youth and we are so grateful for your willingness to make our
dream of helping others through mission work a reality!!!

OPERATION RICE BOWL – Today in Mark’s
Gospel, we find Peter, James and John being disturbed hearing Jesus talk about
carrying a cross and losing his life. In
answer to their misgivings, Jesus took them up to a mountain and was
transfigured before them. They were
filled with awe as they realized his glory was also theirs, a glory not
experienced in his future kingdom, but also here on earth.
As we continue
our Operation Rice Bowl journey let us remember in prayer that as a community
of faith, we have the obligation to reach out to those most in need. The Gospel specifically calls us to take
action on behalf of the most vulnerable members of society. May our fasting, move us to
action on behalf of the poor. May
our almsgiving assist Catholic Relief Services as we learn about agriculture
programs in the
